This spring, we’re exploring those amazingly clever characters known as Tricksters!
What’s a trickster? They’re the mischievous heroes found in stories all over the world who love to stir things up! They use jokes, clever ideas, and sometimes a little chaos to teach lessons, flip expectations, and remind us that things aren’t always what they seem. Such as Loki, the sneaky Norse mischief-maker!
- Think of Maui, the daring demigod of Hawaiian legend who fished up islands with his magic hook.
- Meet Anansi, the clever spider from West African tales who always has a story to spin.
- Then there’s Molly Whuppie, the brave youngest sister from Scottish folklore who outsmarts a giant (and saves her sisters, too!).
- Or Tanuki, a raccoon dog from Japanese folklore, is a jolly, mischievous shapeshifter who loves playing funny tricks and creating harmless confusion.
Here’s what we’ll do…
- Meet the Stars: Discover tricksters from around the world — fox spirits, clever sisters, demigods, poets, and shapeshifters who all have a few tricks up their sleeves.
- Be Smart and Silly: Use humor, imagination, and teamwork to solve tricky problems — just like the tricksters do!
- Make Our Own Plays: Bring these stories to life by creating and performing short plays and original scenes inspired by the best trickster tales from around the world.
Come explore, create, imagine, and stir up some fun with us in…Tricksters: Clever, Curious, and Bold!
Which trickster will you play first?
