Teaching Artist

HTY announces the availability of a full-time teaching artist position. The position is planned to begin around September 1, 2026. $3,333 per month (the equivalent of $40,000 per year) with full medical insurance, vacation and sick leave. 401K plan available.

Honolulu Theatre for Youth seeks a dynamic, skilled, creative teaching artist for the 2026- 2027 season (August 2026- May 2027) as our services are consistently in demand. The Drama Education Department serves the community through Classroom Workshops/Residencies, Community-based drama programs and Teacher Professional Development. The Teaching artist position, in collaboration with HTY Drama Education staff, is primarily responsible for designing and conducting in-school residencies across O‘ahu, and if warranted, across the state, as well as other workshops, classes and programs on an as needed basis determined by the HTY Director of Drama Education (DODE). As most work is done off-site, teaching artists need to provide their own transportation, with gas or travel allowances provided by the company.

The Teaching Artist must be enthusiastic about working with children and young people and demonstrate a commitment to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through designing tools to provide arts enrichment and creative growth.
