Employment Opportunity:

Managing Director

Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY) seeks a full-time Managing Director to join its three-person leadership team, alongside the Artistic and Education Directors. This key leader is a frontline fundraiser, responsible for administration, grant development, marketing, and daily operations. The successful candidate will have a deep connection to Hawaiʻi, its culture, and communities, and the ability to ensure the organization’s long-term sustainability.

 Requirements include: 5+ years of nonprofit management experience, preferably in the arts or education sector; demonstrated success in fundraising and grant writing; strong financial management skills; and excellent communication skills. A degree in Arts, Arts Administration, or a related field is preferred. A strong connection to or knowledge of Hawaiʻi’s history, culture, and communities is highly valued. The ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, is required.

Compensation: $60,000–68,000/year, with benefits including medical insurance, vacation, and sick leave. 401K plan available.

Full-Time Teaching Artist

HTY announces the availability of a full-time teaching artist position. The position is planned to begin around August 1, 2026. $3,333 per month (the equivalent of $40,000 per year) with full medical insurance, vacation and sick leave. 401K plan available.

Honolulu Theatre for Youth seeks a dynamic, skilled, creative teaching artist for the 2026- 2027 season (August 2026- May 2027) as our services are consistently in demand. The Drama Education Department serves the community through Classroom Workshops/Residencies, Community-based drama programs and Teacher Professional Development. The Teaching artist position, in collaboration with HTY Drama Education staff, is primarily responsible for designing and conducting in-school residencies across O‘ahu, and if warranted, across the state, as well as other workshops, classes and programs on an as needed basis determined by the HTY Director of Drama Education. As most work is done off-site, teaching artists need to provide their own transportation, with gas or travel allowances provided by the company.
