Introduction
HTY created this piece in partnership with La Jolla Playhouse. Local writer Lee Cataluna actually built this production through first hand interviews with military families here and in San Diego. Their stories are stories we seldom get to hear but are stories that surround us every day on Oahu. We hope that this guide will provide some resources to talk to your class not only about the subject matter but about the process of collecting and telling stories. As always we hope to produce materials that are effective in your classroom so please let us know how we did.
Synopsis
Inspired by interviews with military children from all branches of service, Lee Cataluna has crafted a remarkable portrait showcasing the loyalty and fierce pride-as well as the anxiety-that comes with being part of a family that is serving in our nation’s military.
