Daniel A. Kelin, II

Director of Drama Education

Daniel A. Kelin II has served as HTY Director of Drama Education since 1987.  During his tenure, he has taught tens of thousands of students all across the world.  A 2009 Fulbright-Nehru Senior Research Scholar in Education in India, he has also had fellowships with Montalvo Arts Center, Theatre for Young Audiences/USA and the Children’s Theatre Foundation of America.  Daniel is on the Teaching Artist roster of the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and has been affiliated with theatres, schools and youth organizations in American Samoa, the Marshall Islands, Pohnpei, Guam, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. He served as President of the American Alliance for Theatre and Education (AATE), an organization that awarded him a Youth Theatre Director of the Year, a Lin Wright Special Recognition award for work with pre-service teachers and the 2015 Distinguished Book of the Year for his latest book, The Reflexive Teaching Artist: Collected Wisdom from the Drama/Theatre Field.  A practicing artist, Daniel has directed, acted in and written plays performed in Asia, the Pacific and across the US. Several of his plays have garnered national awards.

Summer Drama
