HTY Digital Resources for Teachers

The resources available on this page offer teachers multiple ways to integrate creative strategies into daily lessons. There are instructional videos, step-by-step drama strategy guides, lesson plans with handouts and videos and connections to many different texts. Feel free to download any or all of them. Lessons / Activities:

A collection of lesson plans for multiple grade levels integrating simple drama strategies with Language Arts.  Each lesson includes: 1) Step-by-step lessons with fiction or non-fiction texts, 2) Brief demonstration videos on how to apply simple drama strategies, 3) Downloadable handouts on the texts, drama strategies and student handouts.

An interactive lesson on friendship and bullying for young children using simple puppets and performance techniques adapted the book ONE by Kathryn Otoshi.  Includes several video demonstrates by HTY teaching artists.

A series of brief video lessons, designed as hands-on experiences directly for children, using simple movement activities to learn about Verbs, Adverbs and Adjectives. 

HTY teaching artists demonstrate how to engage children, through simple drama activities, in creatively exploring words, actions, emotions, characters, activities, thematic concepts or just about any other subject!

A multi-video series of Language Arts lessons based on the book The Brave Little Turtle.  Each video, meant to be used directly with young children, invites children to creatively explore a different story element: Character, Story Actions, Problem, Solution and Theme.
