Introduction

As both the Artistic Director of HTY and the father of a three year old I have witnessed the love and wonder with which young people approach the world of “trash”.  We rush to the window when the garbage truck comes.  Young people cling to “treasures”  and can turn a box into a wonderland.  This project is a partnership with the City and County of Honolulu who takes on the amazing task of dealing with all our trash every day.  We believe that values can be taught to our youngest citizens that they will hold their entire lives and we hope this guide and this production will both augment the values you are already instilling in the classroom every day!

Synopsis

One person’s trash is another’s treasure. This interactive adventure for HTY’s youngest audience, explores the world of trash from garbage trucks, to the tiny “treasures” that fill our pockets. Music and magic pepper this exploration of how no resource or opportunity should be wasted in the life cycle of “stuff.” Age 3+
