Introduction
Welcome to our new format for our online Study Guides. Thank you for all of your feedback that has lead us to move to what we hope is a more user friendly, robust new system that will eventually let us add video and exiting new features that we hope will further enhance your experience with HTY. Please be patient with us as we embrace this new format. Any feedback you would like to share about the study guide, the show, or your entire HTY experience is extremely beneficial to us as we aim to be great partners to your important work. We especially hope you enjoy this celebration of Filipino stories, songs and culture and look forward to seeing you back at HTY for another show very soon.
Synopsis
“Filipino Folktales & Fables” is a celebration of Filipino culture, and the stories of old that come from the multitude of different ethnic groups that hail from the seven thousand plus islands that form the Philippines. The stories in this piece range from just so stories about how the Philippine islands came to be, why the sea is salty, and why pineapples have so many eyes, to fables that teach important Filipino values such as listening to one’s elders, and valuing one’s community. The stories in this piece, coupled with mini lessons on Filipino history, dance, song, cuisine, values, and language help to make “Filipino Folktales & Fables” a well balanced celebration of an important culture that is part of our islands.
